The Creators Bridge acquires international co-distribution rights for the documentary Elis & Tom, It Had To Be You

It Had to Be You, produced by Rinoceronte Entretenimento, achieved a remarkable feat by becoming one of the most-watched documentaries in Brazilian theatrical circuit in recent years.

Elis & Tom – It Had to Be You, directed by Roberto de Oliveira and co-directed by Jom Tob Azulay, features rare footage from the recording sessions of the legendary album that brought together singer Elis Regina and composer Antonio Carlos Jobim (widely known as Tom Jobim). Filmed by producer Roberto de Oliveira during the album’s recording in Los Angeles, USA, in 1974, the documentary unveils never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage shot in 16mm, which had remained archived for decades. Restored in 4K, it captures the ups and downs of the creative process, revealing the tensions that nearly derailed the Project.

Beyond Brazil, the documentary has already been licensed in the United States, Japan, and Portugal. Through its partnership with O2 Play, The Creators Bridge will explore new markets, channels, and platforms that prioritize premium content.
