TBS Hit drama Tell Me That You Love Me Gets Korean remake

Twenty-eight years after being first aired in 1995, the TBS hit drama Tell Me That You Love Me is getting a South Korean remake. The first episode of GENIE TV’s original series under the same title (Korean: 사랑한다고 말해줘) is set to release on their streaming service on Monday, November 27th. Starting on the same day, it will also be available for streaming in Japan on Disney+.

Tell Me That You Love Me is an original drama series featuring Etsushi Toyokawa and Takako Tokiwa, with screenplay written by Eriko Kitagawa. The story depicts tender feelings of love developing between an aspiring young actress and an up-and-coming painter who lost his sense of hearing. With each subsequent episode garnering more attention than the one before, this drama became a national smash hit, recording high viewer ratings and creating a social phenomenon.

In this Korean remake, the role of the hearing-impaired artist, Cha Jin-woo, is portrayed by Jung Woo-sung. The actor starred in the film A Moment to Remember, which also became a hit in Japan. For Jung Woo-sung, who is known as the “love-story expert” in South Korea, this title will mark his return to a romantic role for the first time in 11 years attracting a lot of attention.

The role of the aspiring actress, Jeong Moo-eun, is portrayed by the talented Shin Hyun-been, who gained popularity after her appearance in the global hit drama Hospital Playlist. Through her acting, she brings a sensitive touch to her character who falls fatefully in love and is forced to grapple with her whirlwind of emotions as she finds personal growth.
