START announced new titles to the international market

CONTAINER (16x55’) is a complex drama centered on the issue of surrogate motherhood.Season 1 saw the lead character Sasha (Oksana Akinshina) take the unusual step of moving in with the couple she hopes to help – the rich and powerful Vadim and his wife Marina. However, apart from finding herself in a very different privileged world she also quickly realized that in their eyes she was merely a “container” for a new toy. What was intended to be a safe space for the surrogate baby quickly became a challenging environment for everyone involved.

In season 2, Sasha has delivered the child she has been carrying and is planning to leave. However, she finds she has mixed feelings as she now understands Vadim and Marina’s principles and moral standing. Not only is she worried about the baby she has carried for nine months but also about uncovering a family secret that has led to a fracturing of her relationship with Anya. As more twists and turns are revealed along the way, the topic of surrogacy comes more sharply into focus, especially in terms of how it resonates within society.
