Japan: Nippon TV TV captured annual individual rating "Triple Crown" in 2021
Marking the 11th consecutive year, Japanese leading powerhouse has again earned the "Triple Crown" title by topping the charts as individual ratings champion in the All Day (6:00-24:00), Prime Time (19:00-23:00), and Golden Time (19:00-22:00) categories. ThisYoshikuni Sugiyama, Representative Director, President and Senior Executive Operating Officer, commented: 'I am honored to announce that Nippon TV captured the 2021 Annual Individual Viewer Ratings "Triple Crown" title. I extend my deepest gratitude to the loyal viewers who supported our programs, as well as our sponsors and partners who made the production of our shows possible. 2021 was another year that was largely affected by the spread of COVID-19. As uncertainty and anxiety grew across Japan, we aspired to fulfill the mission that television has as one of the foundations of society by providing fast and accurate information, and offering wholesome entertainment'.
And he completed: 'As a media organization that delivers enriching moments, Nippon TV will continue to evolve in 2022. Leveraging our multitude of platforms such as our linear/satellite/pay-tv channels, Hulu in Japan, as well as other digital streaming services such as catch-up viewing service TVer, we will take on challenges that enable us to provide a diverse lineup of high-quality content to more people'.
From the Programming Division, it was indicated: 'In 2021, we endeavored to provide the many touching moments during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which made us realize once again what our role as a television broadcaster means. Going forward, we will bolster our viewer-first mindset to unprecedented levels as we continue taking on new challenges to meet diversifying expectations'.
