GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI) sold two of its top-rating primetime dramas starring GMA artist Barbie Forteza, Meant To Be (60x’45) and Kara Mia (50x’45) to Malaysia and Myanmar. The romance comedy Meant To Be will air on Malaysia’s TV Okey starting December 23, Monday to Thursday, at 12pm. It is about four guys of different racial and cultural backgrounds who fall in love with the same girl (Forteza). They try to woo the girl by showing her different languages of love.
The other drama will also premiere in December in Myanmar. Kara Mia is a fantasy series that will air daily on the MWD Documentary Channel beginning December 27 on its primetime block. Kara Mia was a viewer favorite when it originally aired and made the rounds on social media even before its launch on Philippine television. It tells the story of twin sisters who grow up as unique individuals, each with her own face and mind but who are trapped in one body due to a rare genetic malformation. Viewers were drawn to the curious premise of the series, and the dramatic portrayal of Barbie as Kara, and Mika Dela Cruz as her twin, Mia.
Ms. Forteza, dubbed as GMA’s primetime princess also starred in other hit series including the 2018 hit Happy Together and more recently, in the daytime series Love on the Menu.
