GMA’s A Woman Scorned is phenomenon in The Philippines
GMA Network’s A Woman Scorned continues to be one of the most watched daytime drama in the Filipino television, consistently delivering strong ratings in the afternoon prime block.
During last week’s NUTAM TV Household Ratings provided by Nielsen Philippines, the drama became the highest rated show across all timeslots with a 21.1% rating, a phenomenal number for an afternoon drama program.
Now, on its ninth month on air, A Woman Scorned is a hit among its target viewers, housewives and women, as it tackles the themes of love, adultery, and faithfulness. It is also a hit among netizens with some scenes going viral on social media.
Filipino drama series normally air from Monday to Friday. That has changed since April 1 when GMA added a Saturday episode to A Woman Scorned’s weekly airing due to insistent popular demand. The weekend episode is also a hit among viewers, consistently beating its competition and improving the overall ratings of GMA’s Saturday afternoon block.
The good performances of Sunshine Dizon, Ryza Cenon, and Gabby Concepcion hooked viewers as the stellar cast excellently play the roles of a scorned wife (Dizon), a philandering husband (Concepcion), and a feisty mistress (Cenon). A Woman Scorned made history when it surpassed the ratings of consistent daytime top rater Eat Bulaga, a variety show popular among noontime viewers.
During a press conference, the cast and production team were very happy because of the program’s consistent high TV ratings, positive feedback and reviews. ‘We owe it to the public. We would like to thank them’, said lead actress Sunshine Dizon.
